Amazing Open Source
Wow, the thrill I have been experiencing for the last couple of days going through open source projects in www.sourceforge.net is awesome. There is almost every conceivable product out there "open source" to use. Now i can see why these open source projects are so popular and addictive. I am sure all these projects leverage each others code and build such a massive architectures in such a short span of time and above that, its basically a challenge for a seasoned challenged developer who loves churning code and they got complete freedom to develop. This freedom is what that keeps the spirits of the developers up high and running no no no racing.
This project is going to be awesome. I need to setup an office in the new apartment. I need to get a huge white board and fix it on the wall so that it can be used for discussions and other stuff. I need to get a boxing bag also and put it there so that it helps relax stress and a good work out tool. I need to fix some computers and establish a wireless lan and get the code cranking and generate applications, yeahaaaa. Monday, August 18, 2003
Talk Talk and Talk
I talked to Manju today and it felt so good. She is a very cute girl and I don't know if she likes me. She is telling Come back here, Come back here, Come back here, which is so cute. She is one of the best friends I have and I am not sure if I love her. I like her for sure, I like her a lot. But I guess she is too decent girl for me, or what ever, may be I am too shy or may be she is too beautiful for me. But Ramdhan you are RD007, you are James Bond dude. Get going RD007. Manju actually is so fierce about Namrata, she just don't like Namrata hurting my feelings like this.
An exciting week!
Its an exciting week, well I should have been more productive than what I have done. Actually I have done some good progress in the terms of relations and the one with Rajesh Jain is a big one. Then I am actually neglecting personal health and spiritual health which I should concentrate on more. I should get this quote in my gut all the time.
'RAM, WHAT WOULD YOU DO, IF YOU ARE NOT AFRAID.' 'RAM, WHAT WOULD YOU DO, IF YOU ARE NOT AFRAID.' 'RAM, WHAT WOULD YOU DO, IF YOU ARE NOT AFRAID.' 'RAM, WHAT WOULD YOU DO, IF YOU ARE NOT AFRAID.' 'RAM, WHAT WOULD YOU DO, IF YOU ARE NOT AFRAID.' 'RAM, WHAT WOULD YOU DO, IF YOU ARE NOT AFRAID.' 'RAM, WHAT WOULD YOU DO, IF YOU ARE NOT AFRAID.' My lucky number is 7 and actually I realized today that James Bond is also 007 which means 7 is a exciting number and a completely crazy number that does miracles. I need to try to get bond related stuff from now and get my self attached to that, Ramdhan 007. Now again coming to business, had some good conversation with Sid and I guess I am making some good progress in that sense. I am hopeful that we will be able to break some ground soon and get going with some good stuff. Actually I am getting into so many conversations these days about various things that I am gaining more and more knowledge. Friday, August 08, 2003
Money Money Money !
Wow, I am realizing how powerful money is these days. Everybody wants money, govt. wants money, friends wants money, enemies wants money and everybody I encounter wants money. And its amazing to see how people go after money. I am one who keeps giving away money to all the people in need, if they cry I give money, actually I don't take good care of money, i just give it away. I have too much of empathism and keep giving away. After all these giving, I am not sure in what form I am getting that back. They say if you give it will come back to you in leaps and bounds, but in my case its like its going away in leaps and bounds and uncontrolably, its almost like I lost control over the whole thing. It doesn't matter to people whether I am dead or alive as long as they get money. I am feeling as if I am treated as a money making machine, may be I have given that impression through my over generocity in giving which I should have avoided in the first place. But now that I am learning the things in the bitter way possible, this lessons will help me through out my life. But I need more and more and more money.
Starting UP !
Just keep thinking what to do, how to do does not hlep. At some point need toget started. I am just thinking of a plan to get started. For getting started, I need to have some resources first. Resources are a combibation of
People Machines Money Well, it requires time and effort to mobilize these. The planning and all the related execution takes time and help of some people. But right now with the money I have I cannot do a fulfledged establishment. In this circumstances I need to get creative about this. I just got an idea. I will rent a 2 bedroom apartment and advertise for college students to live in that apartment free of cost with basic food provided. In return they will have to work for me for 20 hours per week. The whole thing will cost about 600 to 700 dollars per month investment. But this helps in getting things started and churning out the code and some products, plans, documents and related stuff. If I can get contribution towards this expense from people like Sri Hari and some other guys, that will be pretty cool. In that situation I can make use of Sid for more resources and may be get finance from Deepak. This also helps in having some time for myself and devote my time on more important things. Will have to discuss this idea with SriHari. Thursday, August 07, 2003
Rajesh Jains Vision
I am going through Rajesh Jains vision of Rural India in his blogger. All that is well and good, once you know that you are set for life and you got time and money to invest then I can think of that whole helping community. Well, the bottom line is making a better community. But if Rajesh gives me an offer towork on that field, I will never reject it.
But right now, the whole idea is churning a business idea , a business model that brings in millions of dollars. Work brain work, generate ideas, attract ideas and investment in millions of dollars. Sunday, August 03, 2003
Do Not Abolish H1-B Visa
Sulekha Link
Abolising H1B is not in the interest of USA, it contradicts to the great American pride, that America is a true melting pot. Its a threat to globalization and a threat to America. America will loose its dignity in the eyes of the whole world. A fellow American will be looked down with contempt. Not only that, the cost driven us corporate will completely relocate their operations to countries where they get better cost effectiveness.
SULEKHA PETITIONS: Support Reservations on Economic Criteria only in Education and Jobs
Sulekha Link
Well well well, I have seen enough of resentment being poured here in this petition. I have seen that everybody hates reservations, politics and politicians in India. If you hate the affairs of the politicians and the political system in India, why do you run away from it? If you run away from it, you don't have the right to criticize the system. If you have guts you should tackle the problem and be instrumental in shaping the political situation in India. All the people that are born and raised in Indian cities, who have never experienced a true Indian village society is like and the politics in India like start criticizing politics as a fashion sitting in the air-conditioned rooms. The affirmative action in US is being looked as a freedom fight and Dr. Martin King Luther is looked as a person who has fought the white supremacy in US. But what Dr. Ambedkar did to more than 70% of the Indian population is wrong in your eyes. If you hate reservations in India, start hating Martin Luther King, start hating US Govt. that subsidizes its farmers to the maximum level of all the countries. Now coming to your ire about the students who get into colleges with barely 60% marks. Out of thousands of students who study in tirbal/backward area schools only a handful of students actually get to break the barrier of passing the 10th standard and try to get into colleges and universities. With the bare minimum resources that they got, and most of the times they have to work half day and study the rest of the day, they don’t have the support of their parents, they study with the passion to study and with the encouragement of thousands of dedicated teachers that are striving hard to change the less privileged people, and in that situation how can any body get those percentages that you are talking about like 80 - 90 %. Breaking the barrier itself is a very big deal for the students who are deprived of all sorts of facilities and they do break the barrier with determination and hard work. Do you know for most of the students that come out of these schools, its not their parents that fund them, but their teachers that fund them in various ways like giving them food, cloths, some times tuition fees so that the student will go out study earn and give back to society. And most of these teachers are from forward castes and why do they do that, b’cos they know what they are doing. Don't you think its the responsibility of the society to give oppourtunity to those students. What ever you argue about the caste based system, the fact at the end of the day is that India is deeply divided based on caste and it has been like that for thousands of years and it will be like that for another thousands of years. Nobody can change it, its created by the so-called Forward Castes that are facing the music now after enjoying the benefits of dominating the society for thousands of years. Its good as long you are benefited, if you start facing the music you start resenting it. After all this do you think I endorse the current reservation system in India, NO, it’s a big NO. The current system is being abused by the people who are getting benefited by it and as you said by politicians also. The best way to deal with abusing the situation is this. #1 If the family is economically well established, they should be NOT allowed to get the reservations benefit. What are the economic criteria can be determined based on Indian standards. #2 If the father / mother in the family has already taken the benefit of reservations, then the son should not be allowed to get benefited with the reservation. #3 Limit the usage of reservation facility for 1 to 2 times in life time of the person, which helps to develop competitive spirit instead of giving the benefit through out life. Final thoughts, If you get to eat 3 meals a day every day in India, then you are a very fortunate person, you should be glad that the last 55 years of freedom has given opportunity to your parents to be able to feed you 3 times a day and support you through your education and get a career for yourself. Bear in mind there are still millions of Indians who are deprived of 3 meals a day mostly based on caste based oppression and it’s a true fact and it’s the duty of every citizen of India to work towards eliminating that. Instead of airing scathing remarks, try to learn form the western societies the impact of charity on a society. Now that you are economically well established (I assume as you have internet access.), try donating money to fund the deprived students, adopt a child , a group of children, a school, a village and provide them with money to get a better opportunity. Charity begins at home, and I am proud to say that I donate $300 dollars every month towards charity which goes entirely towards educating a deprived child, a student who cannot get into college b’cos he cannot pay college fee. I am doing this b’cos I know what hunger is what it is to be getting kicked out of college for not being able to pay college fee. Open your hearts and shell out a little bit of your money to the well being of society, towards the cause that you believe is near and dear to you heart. Well, here you might ask, if I donate money it might me misused by the organizations. Then open a bank account and put money in that and ask your parents to donate that money to whoever or whatever cause they think deserves it. Don’t you think it is the greatest gift of happiness that you can give to your parents, giving them the power of giving to the society in their old ages, it gives them the ultimate happiness, try it and see the magic that comes to your lives. If you are more enthusiastic, try getting involved in the politics; I am sure more than 90% of the people here have never voted in their lifetime. I will give you a simple example of my college politics. Every year the college politics are dominated by goons, but one year a brilliant calm going student stood for election and surprised the whole college. He won with a thundering majority, every body voted for him and every thing changed. There came honesty in every level and actually the whole college went to a different level of dynamism with in a short period of time. You are valuable to the society, participate in it, don’t hate it, but make it better. ITS NOT WANT COUNTRY HAS GIVEN YOU, ITS WHAT YOU HAVE GIVEN TO THE COUNTRY THAT IS IMPORTANT.

Its an exciting week all the way, ready to for production this week end and actually got all the stuff resolved with 0 bugs, thats an exciting stuff. There is still more scope for improvement, need to work on that next week.
Most important things this week are: #1 Got a compelling idea about developing a tool for blog enhance ment. I shared with Srihari and he came up with fentastic suggestions, he is a genious. #2 Got mails from Rajesh Jain(www.emergic.org), its a honour to get mail from a person who I admire. Its a good feeling, and he offerred to visit him when I go to Mumbai, which is really good. Now that I am getting ideas to make some stuff, time to fill my Software Factory section. CANI
CANI - Constant Never Ending Improvement.
This is a phenomenon which every individual has to develop through out life time. A person will go though various phases of life. The best human being is one who handle all these phases with a sence of optimism and a balanced attitide and think work progressively. You should not give up in the middle. In telegu there is a poem. A looser never starts a thing thinking about all the consequences of doing it! A normal person will start something, but will quit when he starts facing obstacles! A winner starts a thing and goes after it with passion and doesn't give up until he succeeds! Its your choice what you want to me. You want to be a looser, a normal person or a winner. Its all a matter of your choice. If you can believe and conceive in your mind, you can realize it. Do you want to live as a winner, no, you have to live more than a winner. You have to live a super human being, a human being who creates winners and makes this world a better place to live. |
