Making Software Service same as cellular service!

While going through Reuters Report and Rajesh Jains TECH TALK: The Next Billion: From Where? , I started thinking about the possibility of next billion computers. According to Rajesh the next billion computers can be only from the developing countries and emerging markets. Now how can we tap into that market?

Last weekend I went to Tulsa, OK, to meet Prasad and family and there I came across a business model where the whole hardware/infrastructure is given away free of cost and charge for the service. This helps to penetrate into the current tough markets where there is no money. The same rule can be applied to the markets which are not yet tapped in developing markets. The major issue for these markets is, the SME's will not be ready to invest huge amounts of money into hardware and software and experiment. So taking risk is the biggest mental block for these SME's. What if, we can take that risk away from them by giving away hardware freely or by giving the hardware at nominal rates based on the service contract of a couple of years. It is just like extending the Cellular phone business model to the Software service industry and tap into the billiions of dollars SME's market.

Hope somebody is listening and going to give me the chance to experiement in this direction.
