February 27, 2004SC upholds Govt's IIM fee-cut decisionThe Supreme Court on Friday ended the legal challenge to the government's decision to drastically reduce the admission fee to the prestigious IIMs by disposing of a petition on the issue. A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice V N Khare disposed off the petition saying Government has made it clear that it will compensate the deficit to be incurred by IIMs due to reduction of fee. The bench observed Government has also taken the stand that fee reduction would not interfere or influence the autonomy of institutions of excellence. In view of this, the bench disposed of the petition . Hmmm! Comments
