'Vande Mataram' is un-Islamic, rules cleric

Agra: Fifty-four Muslims were excommunicated and their marriages nullified by a local Mufti after they reportedly expressed the view that singing of national song Vande Mataram was not un-Islamic. Discuss: Vande Mataram has no religious overtones

While issuing a fatwa, Mufti Abdul Quddus Rumi declared that singing of the national song "would lead them (Muslims) to hell."

It was wrong for Muslims to sing Vande Mataram, the Mufti said, adding those advocating the song were deviating from the religion.

The fatwa also nullifies the weddings of those excommunicated. Muslims who made statements in favour of the national song should offer prayers to renew their faith in Islam and remarry according to Islamic rites, he said.

Among those excommunicated were Mutwallis (masjid heads) of the Loha Mandi and Shaheed Nagar mosques, where a group of pro-BJP Muslims had said that the song praised the motherland and did not mask any religious sentiments.

Of the 54 persons who were excommunicated, 13 had asked for forgiveness

Just declare them traiters of the country and threat to country and mug them in jails. Its treason to go against National Anthem. Change the constitution if its needed. No body, No religion are greater than the country.

I was thinking about this and kind of started wondering, the news just says that 54 of them were outcasted, what does that mean? There should be hundreds if not thousands of muslims in that community and all of them are against the Vandemataram? And again started wondering can i make that derivation?

You must educate the muslim and give
him/her opportunities. With rational thinking
a person will examine the religion they are
born in, see
http://www.humanists.net/alisina/

A true religion will pass a thorough examination,
I feel hinduism is true.
What others think its up to them, I can inform
that many westerners now beleive in Karma
and reincarnation, and have respect for the
Hindu/buddist viewpoint. Moreover, many do not
leave Jesus, some say he taught Karma and reincarnation, perhaps hes the avatar for the
Western world ?
