Naxalism - Democracy

A phenomenon is going on in Andhra Pradesh. The new congress govt. under the aegis of Hon. C.M Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara reddy, has made tremendous progress in bringing the Naxalites to the discussion table. The leaders of the movement who have been under ground for almost 20years came out into public and participating in public functions/rallies. This is certainly an amazing phenomenon to watch.

Naxalites came out with a certain agenda to make sure that their demands are honored by the, some of them are good and some of them are outrageous.

They are standing behind the failed leninist/maoist principles which have failed in Soviet Uniona and China. But come to think of it, a rational usage of the policies might have very positive effect in Indian society which is divided grossly on caste lines (No matter which religion you belong to, you will have a caste in India).

Naxalites are in favor of forming a new Telangana State, that means they want to come into main stream politics. As there is huge movement going on to form Telangana state, Naxalites might have recognized this as an opportunity to get into main stream politics. Telangana seems to be inevitable in the near future with the kind of movement that is going on now. I am completely in favor of Naxalites coming into mainstream politics, as it will reinforce that Vote is mightier that gun. What I really wish is that, they join main stream politics even with out the state being divided along the regional lines. It does not matter what kind of idealism they belong to, as long as people vote them into power that idealism is a good one and the amazing power of democracy is 'Self Correction' during elections that come every 5 years and sometimes intermitantly. Naxalites should join the main stream politics and at the same time honor the Indian Constitution, that will be the victory for democracy. That might be a new dawn to the Indian politics which have become highly corrupt now.
