Steve Jobs and 3 Stories about his life

Sometimes life hits you in the head with a brick. Don't lose faith. I'm convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that I loved what I did. You've got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don't settle.
[Via Atanu Dey] Read the stories that Steve told to Stanford students @ 'You've got to find what you love,' Jobs says

Quotes from his stories:

If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?

Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish.

Listen to Vivekananda's Famous Chicago Speech Audio

Swami Vivekananda is one of the most inspirational religious personalities from India. He gave famous religious speeches on Hinduism at "Chicago's Parliament of Religions in 1893" which captivated the world audience.

You can listen to one of the speeches here:

Speech I @ http://www.ourmedia.org/node/23651
Speech II @ http://www.ourmedia.org/node/26340

One of the visitors, by the name Ravi, wrote to me:

THIS RECORDING IS A FAKE.
SWAMIJI WAS INTRODUCED BY A MALE VOICE.
THE FILE HAS A FEMALE VOICE.

THE VOICE OF SWAMIJI IN THIS RECORDING,
IS THAT OF PROF. N. VISHWANATHAN.
HE WAS A NEWSREADER OF THE ENGLISH NEWS BROADCAST,
IN CALCUTTA DOORDARSHAN, PRIOR TO THE NATIONAL NEWS,
STARTED IN 1982.

HE WAS AND PROBABLY STILL IS A VERY RESPECTED AND REVERED PROFESSOR OF
ENGLISH AT ST.XAVIER'S COLLEGE IN KOLKATA, HAVING BEEN EDUCATED IN THE
UNITED KINGDOM AT EITHER OXBRIDGE OR CAMBRIDGE.
HENCE HIS NEAR PERFECT DICTION AND DELIVERY.

Posted by shatheeshl.

I have a colour video from the same Swami Vivekananda's speech from 1893! It was broadcasted on internet live at the time and I found it in a cash file in google!

What is more, I find a few more videos made by M. with his sony video recorder of Ramakrishna lectures with young Vivekananda on them as well. They were also broadcasted live from Kulkata circa 1885. There is also a small clip of both dancing break.

I will give you the link tomorrow where you can download all.

There is no video of Swami Vivekanada! The video recorders weren't invted back in 1890s. "Mahachor Nanda" is just making a joke about the fact that these audio files are not real.

You can read and listen to the speeches at http://www.theuniversalwisdom.org

Such sorts of frauds do not edify Hindus or Hinduism. Hinduism does not need the help of any "proofs" or Angels or even voice of God from Heaven to sustain it. It has been standing on its own legs for thousand of years and continues to evolve to higher truths. How does the "Voice" of Swami Vivekananda add or subtract from the message itself?

Thanks Ramdhanji, for sharing audio files of swamiji's speech.According to me we should not argue that is this voice is of swamiji's or other's. Because Swami Vivekananda said that "I want to be eternal voice without form". Hence we should spread the message of swamiji among youths and students. Now We need to convert all the messages and orders of swamiji into action that will be the real devotion towards Swamiji.

Once again thanks!!
Regards,

How to Multiply Your Effectiveness

Champion salespeople also have their antenna up. But messages come through loud and clear because they're giving all their attention to the prospect. They know what they're there to say much too well to give any thought to it when face-to-face with opportunity. In fact, champions have three versions of what they're there to say ready for their prospects. Having their minds clear, these salespeople can easily read each potential client's message, go with the version of the presentation that best fits this prospect's attitude, and will soon have the order.

Weighing options when going the open source J2EE route

ServerSide has a post Weighing options when going the open source J2EE route.

David Berlind, on ZDNet, has written a blog entry on elements to consider when using open source with J2EE, and mentions making choices for open source application servers, centering on JBoss, and focusing attention to companies like SourceLabs and SpikeSource to verify that the software choices work together.

One of his points is that insourcing J2EE development is a difficult undertaking - with the definition of "insourcing" being "writing your own J2EE container." Therefore, integration should be left to other vendors, such as JBoss, SourceLabs, or SpikeSource (or their other competitors).

However, he mentions that SpikeSource, in particular, targets JBoss, Geronimo, and Pramati (a recent addition) - and not JOnAS. Alan Williamson, at SpikeSource, said that JOnAS was on the list for evaluation, adding "JBoss is still king; it's what people ask for."

You can discuss the post @ http://www.theserverside.com/news/thread.tss?thread_id=34541

But Why Do You Do Good ?

Via: E M E R G I C . o r g: June 12, 2005 Archives Dr. Aniruddha Malpani writes something that we all need to think deeply about:

I am an IVF specialist, but I also run a free patient education library in Bombay. This is called: HELP - the Health Education Library for People, and has now become one of the world's largest consumer health library.

This is a free service we provide, because we believe in Information Therapy and that patients need access to information, so they can get the best medical care for themselves, in partnership with their doctor. We spend a lot of money on running the library ( space rental, books, staff salaries, electricity and so on) and a question many people ask us is - Why do you do this ? What do you get out of it ? Everyone feels we must be having a vested interest, and they simply cannot figure out what it is !

I am surprised at how naive they are. There is so much pleasure in doing good and helping someone else with no vested interest ! Isn't that what life is for ? All religions teach the same thing - do good to others - so why can't we put it into practise in our own lives ?

I am financially well off, so why shouldn't I put my money to good use now in my own lifetime rather than donate it to some charity after I am dead and gone ?

And why should I wait to do good after I have retired ? I live by the philosophy, "Live Rich, Die Broke". Sure, I don't drive a Mercedes, but why do I need to ? One of my friends asked - What's your ROI ( return on investment) ? All I can say is that the emotional income I get is incomparable !

It's sometimes hard to explain to others why we run HELP, and I used to do my best in the past to do so. Now I just feel sorry for them, in that they have not experienced the pleasure which comes from giving to others with no axe to grind.
