The site is sponsored by Exforsys and it seems to be built on Joomla!. Zoomla seems to be a real cool open source Content Management System.

An act of kindness shows Olympic Spirit

"I saw a girl in trouble," he said.

So he handed her a pole. Perfectly natural, the human thing to do. Except, there’s this: Hakensmoen is the coach of the Norwegian team.

Norwegians are crazy about cross-country skiing. It’s their national sport, and Norway had a team in the race.

The Canadians went on to win the silver medal. The Norwegians finished fourth, nine seconds out of third place.

My Rich Uncle - Education Finance

www.myrichuncle.com started by Raza Khan and Vishal Garg, New York University alumni.

Why are we called MyRichUncle? Our DNA is unique in this industry. We are not a bank. We are not a traditional student loan company. There is a reason our site is not covered with smiling students. Debt is no laughing matter. It’s a tough burden to bear. Yet, education is the only true driver of opportunity in your life. You’ve got to get one.

We pay close attention to the obstacles you face in getting loans. Removing these obstacles is our obsession. That drives everything we do. We are well funded. We are backed by Nomura, one of the top ten financial firms in the world.

If you can cover the full cost of education with a scholarship or a low-cost federal loan, that's a step in the right direction. When that is not enough and you need a private loan, we’re here.

We make the process easy. We have very cool products: the next generation of private loans, study abroad loans, and internship loans. We have lots of money . And we won’t sell your data to spammers.

Yeah, we need to be profitable but only so we can still be here next year. We've never stolen candy from a baby.

Taking education finance the startup way; Simply Brilliant!

The Rise of India

Coincidentally about a year ago I created a category 'India Rising' and now there is a video on ABC news: The Rise Of India.

Forget about the outsider, as an insider I saw tremendous amount of energy, charged up young spirits with high level of hope and a confidence to change their own future.

India is transforming incredibly.

Why Do Some Men Think It's All Right to Harass Women and Girls?

Sujatha laments @ Blogpourri: Why Do Some Men Think It's All Right to Harass Women and Girls?.

"Oh, look! There's a woman! Now what do I do? Should I whistle, should I slide up close to her? May be if I put my hand out, I can grab something and squeeze it. Choices, choices."

My question is, why do men think this way, especially here in India?

She also reasons:

This sort of behavior sure cannot be what is taught them at home by their mothers and fathers, nor what can be endorsed by sisters, sisters-in-law or female cousins.

I think one of the reasons is not talking about such social behavior in a family environment. When it comes to discussing such behaviors, we live is a society of 'See No Evil, Hear No Evil' and we assume that ‘Do No Evil’ will automatically follow. However, the best way to propagate 'Do No Evil' is by actually talking about the evil nature of such behavior inside family/society. I encourage all moms to discuss such issues with their kids, thus building a better generation.

There is a new initiative BlankNoise that is started to fight street harassment.

Blank- that which is not allowed meaning, form or articulation. Noise- that which heightens, builds itself. Eve Teasing as the name suggests,is considered a joke, a prank.Eve Teasing is street sexual harassment. The project seeks to recognize eve teasing as a sexual crime and establish the issue as something that may be normal, but is unacceptable. The Blank Noise project works both online and on the streets of Bangalore, Mumbai , Delhi. We invite you to come along!

Support BlogNoise by participation in Blog-a-thon 2006 and yell

to street harassment.

There is eve teasing even in other countries. It is done in a different scale in India. It is acceptable upto a certain level(as with any other thing, it is difficult to draw a line somewhere).

If it gets beyond control, there is law of the land to take care of it. You just need to take this to local police. I am not sure it is worthwhile a big campaign to take care of it.

I agree with you that parents at home should start talking to their children about such demeaning and abnormal behaviours. The children should develop a sense of disgust for such behaviours which will go a long way in preventing them from indulging in such behaviours.

You will never be sure Kishore Dandu till you realize that it is happening to your own daughter/sister/wife/gf/mother....but how will you realize that? You can't, because you are already ina state of denial...

Eve Teasing is surely unacceptable Ram...
But there needs to be a far more thought to this entire issue than just standing up and shouting "naras" and having all bloggers blog about their views that this is unacceptable...

Well if eve-teasing wasnt taught at home, where was it? Where did it spring from?
Does only a particular age group eve-tease?
Does only a particular sex eve-tease? No... there are no limitations to that.

The reason is that this is imbibed deep into the history of the country, how? check out my comment on www.blanknoiseproject.com or simply give it a thought.

Honestly by burning the clothes you were eve-teased in what are u going to achieve?
Perhaps a lot of media attention, some law perhaps the max, and then what? fear... fear is the only answer... and anything that is subsided has a tendency to overflow!

Back to real world or rather .......

Well, finally back from India after a long vacation, which I terribly needed for having been working like hell for the last half a dozen years or so. Through out my vacation there was one common feeling or AWE when ever I visited Hyderabad. It’s just incredible to see how the landscape, economic-scape, job-scape, realestate-scape, culture-scape etc.. of it is changing, I would say ‘at the speed of thought’. Long story short, I decided to have a stake in the changing scape, went ahead and started a real estate company called ‘Hyderabad Dreamz’, along with three of my friends. I will keep you posted about the company operations in future posts.

Now, back here in US, I am getting into the day to day groove and trying to cope with the jet lag head aches. One thing that I can say is that, my long vacation has taken a toll on my English speaking and reading skills. I am in the process of dusting my skills, so will be back with more content in future.

I love traveling and would definitely want to go around the world and see what it made up after all ! anyone out there to give me company ???
